I am so a product of my generation.
Not to mention, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was only like, the best thing on TV ever.
Ahem, moving on.
So a while ago I mentioned lots of stuff I did over the past year, stuff I wanted to do, etc.
Here goes a brief update:
My Half Marathon Saga began around Thanksgiving last year when I decided to actually attempt such shenanigans.
I was thwarted in late January.
An amazingly fun and wonderful ski trip up to Lutsen rapidly changed from this:
to this:
Wherein I pulled a ligament in my knee, I'm told it was the less popular, MCL.
To my chagrin, I was incapacitated - at least as far as running was concerned - for nearly a month.
What with the race being in March I was pretty down on the whole thing.
As I started to feel better and worked up to a couple 5 milers before the race I figured, "F*ck it. I paid for it, I can walk it if I have to, or even quit during it if my leg is giving me trouble."
With those super uplifting and positive thoughts I endeavored to run my 1st 1/2 Marathon in absurdly cold weather. Thanks mother nature for that extra bump of encouragement.
Gah.
Either way, I ran, I would say about half to 3/4 of the time, and finished a bit under 3 hours (hampered by a 15 minute wait for a bathroom break - I would say 2.75 hours isn't too shabby).
I look how I felt, which was exhausted and emotionally drained.

It turned out alright and I was glad I did it.
Proud of myself, yada yada.
Do I need to do it again?
Not sure.
Do I plan to run with Creeper OJ Leather Gloves on again?
Absolutely.
Anyway, as for my title, I'm working on "initiatives" rather than calling it a diet, or a work out plan... it seems to help me focus.
So yeah, little things like taking the bus each day instead of driving.
Bringing my lunch rather than buying it.
Cooking more meals at home.
Going to the gym.
Basically small efforts to change my overall habits.
I have successfully given up pop, or soda, whichever you prefer.
I can't say the same for carbonation but La Croix waters have been my savior.
They are tasty and refreshing, kill the boredom from only drinking water and are all natural.
If that's not enough they are excellent mixers :)
Hoping to continue some golf lessons this summer and go on my first ever clay shooting extravaganza.
Trickle Down Effect has me looking at making homemade dog food for my poor pup who still is having skin issues either from allergies, his meds, or both.
So!
All that said, we shall see what happens here.
2013 - Initiate!!!
